I am Dr. Sawini Ghosh, a dentist by profession and a ceramic artist by passion. My journey into the world of ceramics began six years ago, initially as a hobby that quickly evolved into a serious pursuit.
Our Journey
Over the years, I have trained under several esteemed artists, beginning with Maya Babu, an expat ceramic artist from Dubai. I received my formal training at Golden Bridge Pottery in Pondicherry, founded by the renowned Ray Meeker and Deborah Smith. I further specialized in lidded jar forms under Amrita Dhawan. My exploration of ceramics also includes an in-depth study of glazing techniques at Clay Station, and I am currently mastering the art of crystalline glazing under the guidance of Srirupa Sen, a celebrated artist from Jaipur.
Three years ago, I founded Winique Pottery, a brand dedicated to curating and conducting pottery workshops, events, and unique art experiences. My workshops have been well-received across Bangalore and Mumbai, and I’ve had the opportunity to collaborate with various cafes, restaurants, and lounges, as well as corporate clients like Google, McKinsey, and IFB. Additionally, I have a deep passion for animal welfare, which led me to curate collaborative workshops with animal rescue shelters, such as Charlie’s Animal Rescue Centre, where pottery sessions are paired with adoption drives.
My work has garnered international recognition, with features in British Herald, 1000 Vases, and Sylph Magazine. I have also exhibited my pieces at prestigious events such as World Art Dubai, 1000 Vases Paris, Potter’s Fest Goa, and Potter’s Fest UK.
I continue to explore and innovate in the world of ceramics, always seeking new opportunities to share my passion with others.
